I Fucked Up

Sunday evening as I was frantically running around Eorzea trying to get my Yo-Kai medals I realized I had fucked up. And not just a small fuck up. No a big one. Huge one. A fuck up that hasn’t happened to me in a very, very long time.
What am I talking about you mean? Well, I’m talking about the fact that I cannot, for the life of me, manage my time correctly.

I was super excited about the Yo-Kai event. Even though I’ve not played the games themselves (I tried, but felt too much like a Pokémon ripoff), I think the pets and the weapons that you could get were very cute. Being the collector that I am I set my mind to get all the pets, weapons and both the mounts on not one but two characters.
Boy did that turn out wrong.
I made a decent start with farming. I had gotten my first three weapons on Sandrian really fast. I was working on my second weapon on Sarella and everything seemed to be going fine. But then Legion launched and I completely lost track of anything else I was doing. In the back of my mind I knew the Yo-Kai event needed to be done at some point, but Legion has been all-consuming for the past month so I kept postponing it, like I do with almost everything in my life. Untill last weekend panic struck. I only had three days left to farm 9 weapons on Sandrian. I had given up on the notion of getting more than the two weapons I had obtained on Sarella.
In truth I was slowly getting back into FFXIV earlier. I had farmed a bit here and there and played with the idea to log a few nights, farm medals and breeze through the event in the last week. It should have been easily doable, were it not for the fact that I chose to sleep or play WoW instead.

I fucked up and I have no one to blame but myself. I finished the Yo-Kai event with 11 weapons on Sandrian and 2/3rds of the way to number 12. If only I had gotten started sooner, if only I could have sat down to farm. If only my head wasn’t this chaotic mess that completely lacks any commitment to plans I make.
It sucks but it’s a learning experience. With all the ingame events going in WoW, FFXIV and others I will really need to learn to plan, prioritize, schedule and stick to it. I may let some things go because I’m not that invested into a game but FFXIV is special to me and I’m heartbroken that I let WoW take over my life completely.
It’s hard to manage so many things next to having a fulltime job. It’s hard being an adult. But I guess I’ll have to suck up and learn. The days where I could carelessly do what I want because I had seas of time are over. I work with way less hours than I’m used to and I’m letting everything slip because of it. Even my blog has been completely unused for the past month. I’ve just not had the time or inclination to sit down and write up untill now. I guess I’ll have to make some sort of schedule for that aswell seeing as raiding has started up on WoW again which leaves me unable to do anything but play that on certain nights after I get home from work. I have been trying to schedule more things in my agenda and installed the Wunderlist app to make sure I get certain tasks done on certain days. It has been a bit helpful, but for me the problem isn’t really scheduling my time, it’s actually sticking to that schedule…

The Good News
I haven’t been idle over this past month. As I said Legion has sucked me in completely. I think this is probably the best expansion Launch WoW has had in a while. We are now over 6 weeks in and there is still plenty to do. I’m finally able to start considering leveling an alt to max level (I picked my Hunter who is comfortably sitting at level 105 right now) next to keeping up with everything on my Warrior. I’m almost exalted with the Nightfallen, only 2.5k off actually, and then I can turn my attention to the other factions. Seeing however that I’m currently enjoying the first week of a two week holiday and the first weekly event in WoW happens to be increased faction rep I hope I can make quite some strides in getting my rep up with all the factions, but mostly Highmountain and Valarjar. Since they have the rank 3 Blacksmithing recipes I want. Next to that I’m still lacking all the level 3 mining recipes so I’ll be working my way through that aswell as trying to level up my Cooking, First Aid and Fishing AND getting that elusive Fishing artifact. Enough to do for now!

I have also changed my blog a bit. The purple was starting to hurt my eyes so I reversed it to plain black. I’ve also adjusted my sidebar to give an accurate view of what I’m playing right now. As you can see it’s only three games. WoW is sucking up the biggest chunk of my time, but I’m also planning to reserve atleast one evening a week to play some FFXIV. I really miss that game and I haven’t seen any of the 3.4 content yet so I feel like I should make some time for that.
As for other games.. I want to focus on completing one game at a time next to my MMO’s. I have so many games that I’ve started and never finished because I started another game halfway through. The only game I finished in one go lately has been Kirby: Planet Robobot and that’s probably because I actually didn’t let myself play anything else on my 3DS while I was playing that. It paid off though since I completed the main story + all the cubes in about 20 hours. I still think the final bossfight in that game was epic and I do plan to 100% it at some point… But not now. Seeing as Pokemon Sun/Moon are coming out somewhere in November I feel like I have to finish up the previous gen games atleast. I’m about 6 badges into Alpha Sapphire and 5 badges into X. I really didn’t care which one of the two I wanted to tackle first, but considering I know the story of ORAS, I own all the original GBA games from that gen, I decided to go with X and complete that story instead. After that I will probably pick up AS where I left off and finish that, including the Delta episode. From there I’m not sure what I want to play, but I’ll tackle that when the day arrives.

As you can see I’m full of plans again. I’m just hoping that I can stick to them this time.

Hello from the Other Side

September is in full swing and I realize I haven’t blogged in a while at all. I really wanted to post every day during August, but I really was an uninspired mess and I didn’t want to write subpar blogposts just for the sake of blogging.
My work has been an exercise in frustration. It’s been busy, more busy than before, and now you notice that some of your coworkers are just not dependable. We have a few around who do about half the work I do in a days time, while the other half they are looking at their phones, Facebook or even watch Netflix while “working”. It’s sucky and it’s making me very grumpy. Not that I’m not happy working there, the job is fine and I get along with most people. It’s just those few that suck all my energy out. Oh well.

In gaming terms I’ve been spending a lot of time in Azeroth. Legion launched a little over a week ago and I’ve barely picked up anything else. Now with the mobile companion app I’m even more invested in the game than I’ve been since Wrath of the Lich King days. It’s nice having a “fresh start” of sorts and I’ve been happily whacking away on my Warrior, Sandrian. I think it took me about 4-5 days to get to max level. My personal favourite zones were Val’Sharah and Highmountain, mostly due to the plot twists in the stories there, good and bad. Val’Sharah broke my heart, Highmountain made my jaw drop. Only Stormheim I didn’t really enjoy, with the Horde vs Alliance conflict saving atleast a bit of the zone for me.

I’ve also stuck my nose into the Rising Event on FFXIV today and took a few screens that I want to share here.

First off the amazing dressup of Ul’dah. I really love all the shinyness and banners and everything. Square Enix did a great job.

I got to play out the Calamity on stage…

And then ran into an old friend who I watched the fireworks with.

Followed by a huge SE wink to a very familiar character.

All in all it makes me happy to see SE put so much effort into their anniversary celebration. It’s nice that we as players get appreciation (and ingame goodies!) and I always find the whole thing charming. Ofcourse it wasn’t the same magnitude as the celebration last year, but still.

I’ll try to blog a bit more again. I’m still a very uninspired mess, but I do want to share some of my ingame adventures with you guys! Plus I still need to review my August goals, so that is a post that will definately come along.

Events Galore?

About two weeks ago I made a post about all the events that are going on in August in the games I play. There’s an Overwatch Olympic event, the Legion pre-patch stuff on WoW, Moonfire Faire and Yo-Kai event on FFXIV. And then I haven’t even looked at Wildstar or Guild Wars 2 yet.
Although I very enthusiastically tried to participate in all of them, I have to admit defeat and say it’s just too much. I’ve had a very unlucky streak in Overwatch with opening boxes and even winning games so I didn’t get near as much loot as I hoped I would. This is a real shame because some of the Olympic skins are seriously amazing and I’m sad I didn’t actually get more than two of them so far. I got footballer Lúcio and Track&Field Tracer but that’s it. It’s a shame Blizzard won’t let you buy the skins with currency either, so if you don’t obtain them now, you’ll never obtain these things again. I did get some stuff obviously, victory poses, sprays, icons, the same damn Tracer Highlight 3 times (really Blizz?). But by far not enough. I guess you really need to have Overwatch as your maingame and spam it everyday to even get close to obtaining everything there is to have. Alas. I’ll have tomorrow during daytime and Monday evening to obtain a few more levels and hopefully a few more event chests. I really really hope I can get the Mercy skin since she’s one of my most played champions, together with Lúcio and Soldier 76. I guess we’ll see.

In WoW I’ve been using and abusing the shit out of the invasions. It’s gotten my Shaman to level 100 and fully geared (ilvl 704!) and I’ve gotten a few transmog items. I’m still chasing the Bow on my Hunter, so I’ll probably be focussing mostly on her for the invasions untill the actual Legion launch.
I’ve really been struggling to pick a “main” for Legion. I thought it would be my Warrior first and foremost and although I’m still on that train of thought I’ve been really into my Shammy again. I love the Elemental specc and the damage output right now is just insane. Maybe I should just let the whole idea of  “main” fade and just play what I enjoy at that moment. I mean I do the same on FFXIV, so why not do it on WoW? I know that I’ll spread out my achievements and everything but well. Achievements are account bound and it doesn’t really matter which character earns it, aslong as it’s earned. So far the classes I enjoy playing are Warrior, Shaman, Hunter and my newbie Demon Hunter. I’ve not really looked at anything else yet. I’ve burned out on Priest play over the last expansion and although I love Paladin gear, I’m just not really digging the class right now. Warlock, Rogue and Death Knight are all classes I’m not even looking at right now which leaves me with Mage, Monk and Druid. I have all of these characters at level 100 but honestly I just really can’t be arsed to log them right now. I might change my mind later on and level up another batch of alts over Legion, but I’m starting with two cool Alliance characters and two cool Horde characters first and foremost.

As for FFXIV… I’ve not really done much of the Yo-Kai event anymore. I know I’m close to getting my fourth weapon on Sandrian but that’s it. I’ve been mostly focussed on upgrading my relic and this weekend on running PotD. I’m really close to getting my first weapon (+22/+23) and I think I’ve decided to use it on my Astrologian. I really love healing on that class and she’ll be the only one without a decent weapon otherwise, so that’s more or less settled too. I know most people already have a few weapons but my time on FFXIV is being replaced with WoW and OW for the past weeks so I’m just taking it nice and slow. I don’t think I’ll max out my stats from the 41-50 run that my Ninja is currently on, but I hope I can get as close as I possibly can and then not have to run that godawful place for a while.

All in all it’s been quite busy gaming wise. Having so many events going on at once is seriously sucky when you already have limited gaming time and when you’re feeling a bit meh about gaming in general. I hope my mood improves soon. Not sure why I’m feeling like this. Maybe it’s just the weather.

Kannagi Upgraded!

After 5 weeks of running Crystal Tower my pair of Kannagi has finally gotten to their Hyperconductive state!
Go me!

I’m super happy with the glow on these weapons. I finally feel like I’m wielding something badass again. The upgrade to the weapon also boosted my overall ilevel to 228. It also means that I have a relatively “easy” step for the relic out of the way. Really, just farming the Crystal tower for five weeks straight wasn’t too bad and I already knew this was mostly a “catch up” step to get the relic up to date with the other weapons that were available in the game. Now another big grind begins with having to obtain 80 Umbrites and 80 Crystal Sands, give or take. Ofcourse if I just start doing roulettes again and just focus on more general gameplay I’m sure this won’t take as long as I think it would (I say this now, but the whopping 24k tomestones of Esoterics needed for this upgrade is a really steep requirement). If I manage to finish off this stage of the relic before the next major patch hits I’ll be on track and on the “current” step for the relic for the first time since… 2014? I think the last time was when I was still raiding Coil and had to upgrade my Bard relic because we were not killing turn 9 yet. Oh well.

My little anima friend appears to be getting stronger aswell. I can’t even remember if I picked it to be male or female for my Ninja relic. I guess I’ll find out later? Although I don’t think the story for this relic is as strong and/or interesting as the 2.0 relic, or as elaborate and diverse, I’m still having a blast upgrading it. It gives me an overarching goal in the game next to grinding lore and unlocking content in general. I like working towards something and the relic weapon fulfills that need right now. I’m sure that once Legion hits in two weeks, and I get an Artifact weapon, I’ll probably be online less on FFXIV and thus will devote less time to my relic aswell.

For now though I’m super happy with my glowy daggers and I can focus a bit more on doing some other things, like level my Astrologist to 60, get a Palace of the Dead weapon and run some Weeping City/Void Ark so I can upgrade my Lore gear.

The Sky is Burning!

With Legion coming up and the pre-expansion madness being fully underway I decided to stick my nose back into WoW again for a bit to see what all the fuss is about. I think Blizzard did a really good job with how they are handling the special invasions, although the server lag is seriously dumb. I mostly just want to share some screenies I took as I was slaughtering demons in various zones.

The whole event looks impressive and gives me serious Starcraft vibes. Well done Blizzard. The only thing I’m kind of sour about is the fact you can only get the special looking weapons as you do the invasions and they are very rare to boot. I got myself a pair of 2H Warmaces on my Warrior, but that’s it. I really hope it’s not tied to what you can and cannot wield otherwise I’ll have to take out more characters to “collect them all”. I did already splurged my Nethershards on the Leather set appearance and the pet. Since I’m doing the invasions on both my Warrior and Hunter I’m hoping I don’t have to buy those appearances since I’ll be collecting the actual gear

Seeing all the Demon Hunters run around has been great aswell! Unfortunately since I don’t have my game pre-ordered with Blizzard I will have to wait for that experience untill the actual launch of the game. Oh well. It’s not that big of a deal. Atleast Blizzard has managed to pull me back into atleast two of their games for now. With the new Kharazan Adventure releasing aswell I might even try to open up a wing or two of that. Enough to do anyway!

As for all the other games… I finished up the Moonfire Faire on both my characters in FFXIV. I got all the stuff I wanted except for the Firefly Lamp since I don’t have my own estate anyway and I’m not huge on the furniture collecting. The armor, poses and the orchestion scrolls were a must have though. Luckily for me since the event has been going for a few days it has gotten quiet, which means I could easily get gold rating in the fates tied to the event. Thus “finishing” it on both my characters in <1 hour. Now I just need to get back to farming Yo-Kai weapons…

A Weekend of Eorzea

I feel pretty pleased with myself today. After a bit of a tumultuous week I’ve had a very nice relaxed weekend with lots of gaming and fun. I made some progress on both of my characters on FFXIV. My Astrologian is now level 54 after finishing Palace of the Dead completely for the first time yesterday. I’m sitting on +18/+21 after that complete run so I shouldn’t be too far off of getting my weapon. I’m still undecided which class I want to give it to, I don’t really play anything besides Ninja, but since I’m already working on my Relic there I want to give it to some other class. Now the only other battle classes I have at max level are Bard and Dragoon. Seeing my little rant earlier about Bard being horrible to play and me not being able to adapt well I don’t think I’ll get that weapon first. I’ve not really touched Dragoon either since I switched to Ninja and I don’t think I will anytime soon, so that one is out of the question aswell. I’m strongly leaning in the way of giving the weapon to my Astrologian. I like having a non-DPS class at max level and am actually having a very nice time playing the class so it would be a logical decision no? The only downside there is that my Astrologian isn’t 60 yet, but I don’t think that will take me that long at all to reach.

Difficult decisions indeed. So instead of grinding out that weapon I turned my attention to some other stuff instead. I’ve gotten almost everything I wanted from the Moonfire Faire on Sandrian, bar the Orchestrion scroll. I have to say man, the absurd amount of people doing those damn two fates makes it really annoying to grind the Faire tickets. Plus the first time the FATE’s didn’t even register me participating, forcing me to drop the quest and pick it back up again. The idea this year is fun though and speaks to nostalgia. Power Rangers and all that. I had hoped for a bit different rewards like maybe a Barding, we haven’t had one of those in a while now. But I guess I’ll have to make do with (ugly) glamours, emotes and an Orchestrion scroll. It could be worse I guess.
Next to the Moonfire Faire I’m also still working on my Yo-Kai grinding. Halfway through weapon number 4 on Sandrian now and I’m working on my second weapon on Sarella. I’ve also completed my weekly Crystal Tower so only two more Aether Oils to go!

All in all I feel like I’m making some progress in FFXIV again. I might not be back on the cutting edge of raiding, but I’m slowly completing the stuff that I want. I really hope I’m able to get all my battle classes to 60 by the end of the year on Sandrian. I know it’ll take a lot of work, but with some dedication and concentration I’m sure I’ll make it. I mean, I only have three classes below level 50 now and with PotD, roulettes, FATE grinding and Crystal Tower raids levelling goes fast enough.

The Summer Is Magic

After a more personal post yesterday I want to return to games and gaming today, I mean that’s the whole reason I’ve started this blog in the first place anyway right?
Today’s topic covers a magical summer filled with all sorts of lovely events taking place in many of our favourite games. I’ll start off with FFXIV and the second big event that’s taking place in Eorzea next to the craziness that is Yo-Kai medal farming.

I present to you the official art for the Moonfire Faire of 2016! This time Square is preying on our nostalgia and introducing the Power Rangers into our Eorzean lives. I’ve personally not started the quests yet, but I know you can obtain armor, emotes, furniture and an orchestion scroll. I’m absolutely planning on completing this event on both Sandrian and Sarella but reading about a lot of bugs going on right now I think I’ll just wait a few days before throwing myself into the fray. Atleast there will be enough to do next to Yo-Kai farming, my weekly Crystal Tower raids and trying to cap Lore. I already did Weeping City and Void Ark for this week luckily, so I don’t have to worry about those.
Next to that I’m slowly levelling up my alts with all the FATES that I run for the Yo-Kai medals and doing Crystal Tower on my level 50ish characters. So far it’s netted me one level on my MCH, one on my AST and one on my MNK. So I’m slowly heading to 60 on everything!

Next to events in Eorza there’s also a lot of things happening/about to happen in the Blizzard universe. The Legion invasions will start somewhere this coming week so I’ll be on WoW a bit more, soaking it up and experiencing all of it. I have the game pre-ordered, but not via Blizzard so I can’t dive into the Demon Hunter experience yet, and that’s fine with me.
Next to WoW shenanigans a new season has kicked off in Diablo 3 aswell. To be quite honest, I’ve not touched D3 in a very long time and I don’t think I will spend any time playing this current season. I’ve fallen out of love with that game a while ago, mostly because the people I normally play with have all quit… And the constant grinding of the same stuff over and over is starting to get really, really boring. Even the seasonal rewards don’t have me coming back to the game. So unless Blizzard is going to make a major announcement at Blizzcon about Diablo, I think for me that’s a closed chapter for now and I won’t be returning to Sanctuary for a long time.

An event that has caught my attention is the summer games event in Overwatch.
I’ve not played Overwatch that much since launch, but I can never pass up goodies in a game, especially since I can earn them for free! So I’ve strapped on my Overwatch boots again and have about five games under my belt today, and opened a few loot boxes that made me very happy. I got one of the valkyrie skins for Mercy, who is by far my favourite champion, and one of the Summer Games highlight clips, more specifically the one for Tracer. I’m really enjoying myself playing Overwatch for now. Although I end up mostly playing supportive characters like Mercy and Lúcio, I also know my way around on Soldier 76 and Tracer. I hope I can play enough to unlock lots of lootboxes and earn lots of the Summer Games stuff before the event ends on August 22nd.

The last big thing going on is the new Adventure for Hearthstone. Apparently we are getting a partied up version of Kharazan to dawdle around in and I’ve been slowly saving up gold so I can start unlocking the wings as they come out. Blizzard made a tiny prologue to the adventure that is free to play for everyone, so I’m curious to see how that turns out. aswell.

All in all August is going to be a busy month with plenty events, releases and other stuff going on. And I haven’t even mentioned No Man’s Sky or the actual Legion launch yet!

Crashlanding

When I got home from work yesterday I just completely crashed. Went to bed, got woken up for dinner, went back to bed again. Woke up around 22.00 feeling groggy and realizing that I hadn’t even called one of my best friends to wish him a happy birthday. Yeah. I was THAT tired.

Due to this I obviously also didn’t post, which is lame because I feel like I messed up Blaugust right from the start. Then again I hope to grind out two posts today (one in the morning, one in the evening) to make up for it so I can still say I posted one post “every day”. It’s really not that hard to write, but if your body and mind just work against you and the only thing you want to do is sleep it’s really hard to focus on other things.

As far as this post goes, I’d like to take the opportunity and rant a bit about Bard gameplay in FFXIV. I don’t like it at all. I loved the 2.0 Bard. Although damage may have been slightly bad it still gave me the Hunter Archetype to play that I know and love. Now with Heavensward Square Enix turned Bards into semi-casters, completely taking the fun out of the class. If I wanted to cast stuff I would go Black Mage or Summoner, not Bard. It’s really annoying too that you have to work with an immense amount of cooldowns and somehow have to weave those in between casts. It’s losing me tons of DPS time and honestly, I don’t know how to do it better at all. You can’t really move anymore, if you want movement you need to turn off your Wanderer’s Minuet but then your damage drops. It’s sucky. I don’t want to be a stationary caster. I want freedom to move, I want the old Bard gameplay back! And no buffing their shots/damage doesn’t improve the situation at all. Hell, stuff that I normally breeze through on Ninja like Ex-Roulette, Weeping City and Void Ark take me so much effort to do correctly on Bard that I just more or less have given up on playing the class alltogether.
But Sandrian, you say, maybe you just need to give it more time and practice more and then you’ll get better! Ofcourse that is probably the solution. The thing is, I don’t really have the time to practice the class a lot. It’s not something I would want to be doing with the sparse hours of gametime I have during the week. I want to be able to run content and not be frustrated about having to play a broken class. It’s annoying, it puts a strain on me while playing and it makes me want to throw my controller through the room. And it makes me sad, because I used to main Bard but now… It’s just a husk of it’s former glorious self.

I really hope that SE will reconsider the class design with the next big expansion. I want Bard to feel natural to me again since it is one of my favourite class types to play. I guess only time will tell.

Chasing Yo-Kai

I’ve had a lovely weekend filled with games. Especially today I really got my gaming groove on and did Crystal Tower, a significant amount of FATE farming on FFXIV and finished off the fourth area of Kirby Planet Robobot. And with finished I mean I found all the cubes, thus unlocking an extra stage… Where I found all the cubes aswell! Good times indeed.

Before I discuss the main chunk of this weekend I just want to get a few words in about the 3DS game that has been sucking up almost all of my non MMO time. I got Kirby for €25 about two weeks ago and I’ve been playing it constantly ever since. I’ve never really fully played a Kirby game, but the colourful design and the good impressions it seems to elicit around the web made me cave and buy it earlier than I intended to. So far I’ve been having a blast playing, trying to get most of the stuff on my first runs in levels. Next to 5 levels and a boss level every area you can also unlock an extra level by obtaining all datacubes in every level in an area. Next to datacubes there’s also stickers to obtain in every level, some of normal (blue) quality, some of rare (golden) quality. So far I’ve managed to obtain all datacubes in Area 1, 2 and 4 and I only have 3 left in Area 3. As far as stickers go. I think I’ve gotten quite a lot, but I’m far from being complete.
The game is very happy, bright colours, cool music, not too complicated gameplay. I have died a few times, but that was due to me being a bit of a tard and falling down into the abyss in some levels. I think I have about 5 hours of gameplay in so far and I’m at about 35% completion. I know you unlock new modes after finishing the Story Mode so I’m slowly working my way through that. With only two areas to go I’m sure I’ll be able to atleast beat the endboss of Story Mode this week and then I’ll see what I unlock.

Farming Minions and Weapons
The people who follow me on Twitter already  have seen me post a few pics of me obtaining some Yo-Kai weapons over the week. So far I have the Paladin, Warrior and Ninja weapon on Sandrian and the Warrior weapon on Sarella. I also managed to obtain all 13 minions on Sandrian this afternoon so I could get the Whisper-Go mount. Even though I don’t have much with the Yo-Kai franchise in general I do think all the minions, weapons and the mount are quite cute and a must have on both my characters. Luckily the event lasts all the way untill October, meaning I don’t have to frantically grind to get everything I want. Ofcourse it will still be a lot of work to get all THIRTEEN weapons on both my characters, but seeing the current droprates for the legendary medals you trade in for the weapons, the grind isn’t that bad. I’m in the realm of needing 15 medals per weapon now so it’ll take a bit longer than the 7 I needed for my first one, but farming FATES while waiting for queues to pop has proven to be a very effective way to get my medals and not be bored while waiting for stuff. Couple it with me still having a lot of sub-60 classes and I’m also getting a good chunk of leveling done aswell. My Warrior on Sarella dinged 45 and my Machinist on Sandrian dinged 51 so I’m making some progress in that department aswell!
What’s also really nice is that you can immediatly store the weapons you obtained in your armoire so they don’t take up space in your bags. I’m not sure how many I’ll use for glamours. So far I’m using the Warrior one on Sarella and the Ninja one on Sandrian because I do like the looks of them… For now.

Next to the whole Yo-Kai event I’ve also worked my way through Crystal Tower for the week. I really want to upgrade my Kannagi so I’ll have to bite the bullet and queue up for all the old raids every week for five weeks in a row. With two weeks done I should be done with my upgrade in about three weeks from now, getting a nice glow back on my weapon.
If it wasn’t for the relic upgrade I probably never would have set foot in the old Crystal Tower raids again. I never really liked them a lot, especially World of Darkness, and with so many people rolling on a few of the things I am actually interested in it used to be a very disappointing experience for me as a whole. I can’t count how many times I’ve rolled on the Onion Knight minion and never won it. The music scrolls they added now fall under the same category. Too many people rolling on them. I did however manage to get lucky in my first run of WoD (I had to do a second one because I had forgotten to pick up the weekly quest…) and somehow won the “Puff of Darkness” minion with a very shitty roll. I can only assume that almost everyone else in the raid already had it or didn’t care about it enough to roll on it.

It makes me happy to have it though! I’m over 100 minions collected now. Also thanks to the Yo-Kai event. I still miss a lot of them but even then. More than 100 minions is a lot.
I’ve also been seriously considering ordering the two carbuncle plushies since they’re available in the Square Enix EU store again but man the prices of those things! I don’t mind paying for the plushie and the ingame minion, but with shipping costs included it’s quite expensive in the end. I do want them though, so I’ll wait for my credit card to refresh for August, I’ve limited myself to max €100 euro a month on that thing, and then I’ll probably order them anyway.

All in all I’ve had a nice weekend. Lots of games. Game streams. It was nice. And next to all of that I still got my chores done too!

Relic Upgraded!

Last Thursday I finally got the item I needed to turn my Yukimitsu Awoken into Kannagi.
Before I get the comments. Yes I am slow. I have a love/hate relationship with relics. Have had it since the 2.0 relic and it continues untill today. I remember getting my Dragoon relic for 3.0 when it just released fairly fast. I didn’t mind the FATE grind and also got the dungeon part out of the way pretty easy. I started out on the next step of the quest but then switched main to Ninja. Where I had to grind out the first stages of the relic again and somewhere at that time I just lost interest. The last two months or so I’ve been slowly making my way to upgrading anyway though, mostly through Beast Tribe dailies.

Although I’m not really impressed with how it looks (I lost my glow!) I do think the design of the daggers is quite brutal. Gone is the smooth design, hello hooks that will tear your guts out the moment these daggers plunge themselves into your belly. Honestly I think I should get a damage bonus based on how this weapon does it’s job alone. I mean. Instead of just clean cutting into someone I actually do way way more damage. I do like the screenshot I took when obtaining the weapons though. I managed to get it at just the right time!
Let’s talk some stats aswell.

As you can see when you click on the picture the weapon itself is ilvl 210, which isn’t bad but still the biggest factor that holds back my DPS. Weapon damage is the biggest DPS boost for all classes and for Melee classes this is even more true. Furthermore it comes with a bunch of Dexterity and Vitality, Determination and… Skill Speed. Bummer. Skill Speed isn’t that important to Ninja’s, not since they fixed Mudra lag anymore. I rather would have had Crit instead of SS there, but apparently you can adjust your relic later on so I might just look into that. As for the weapon itself. It’s Dyeable, which I haven’t tried yet, and it was a decent upgrade from the previous version weapon damage wise.

I’ve already taken up the next step in the big relic grind, which basically comes down to running the old Crystal Tower raids 5 weeks. Right now I only need to do Labyrinth of the Ancients for the week and then I’m done for this reset. Compared to the massive grind to get Kannagi I think it’s nice that Square gave us a little breathing space on the next part of the quest. I do understand that this part is more of a “catch up” part since there were ilvl 230 weapons available in the game and the relic needs to be atleast on par. With this information though I should be able to upgrade my Kannagi to Hyperconductive Kannagi somewhere in August. I’m looking forward to it!
